Active Reading

Throughout my struggles with active reading, because of my English 110 course instructor and using her guidance, I have been able to properly conduct active reading. This progress helped me analyze, collect, and develop new skills as a writer. At first, I struggled to read such long pieces of text but as I broke them down by paragraph, it came so much easier to me. Because of being able to analyze these texts, I was then able to collect them in my mind so I could highlight and develop important ideas that stood out to me. I was able to break down pages and pages of text and not only find the main points of information they were trying to explore, but also paraphrase and respond to them. Though I’m grateful that I can now actively read, I do wish that some of the papers were shorter and less condensed.
